Autoblog rode shotgun in Subaru Motorsports’ new American Rally Association (ARA) car, team driver Brandon Semenuk testing the new entry before the Ojibwe Forests Rally in Minnesota. Based on the latest WRX chassis, the turbocharged 2.0-liter boxer four “only” makes about 320 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, but packs plenty of World Rally Championship tech. On a 1.8-mile out-and-back gravel road, Semenuk showed us firsthand what an ace pilot can do with the same output found in many family sedans. After testing this year, Semenuk and Travis Pastrana will campaign the car during the 2024 ARA season. The car is incredible, and there are not only wild times ahead, but plenty of that time will be spent sideways.
